Classy, cozy, friendly, the All American Club diner in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood brings back the Art Deco timeline with a sophisticated modern touch. As part of the BOKA group's portfolio of restaurants, the reputation placed the establishment with high expectations which were successfully met through out our dining experience, from the individual staff interactions to the execution of the re-envisioned classic dishes and the artistry in the cocktails. When I think of Spanish food and seafood, the first thing that comes to my mind is paella, one of the most globally recognized national dish of Spain. While Mfk. is a Spanish seaside inspired restaurant, the move beyond the well known paella into the creative mix of modern take and old renditions of the greater spanish recipe was an interesting concept that I couldn't resist. This is a place where you explore the nonconformist flavors that gently incorporate traces of the authentic spanish traditions. Approach it with an open mind and let the fireworks play out in your mouth. For those who live in the downtown area and often shop for Asian food ingredients, H-Mart Supermarket opening in the West Loop area is as good as downtown living can get. H-Mart is not your everyday grocer, nor is it your mom and pop Asian grocer found in Chinatown or Argyle. It is a quality Korean supermarket chain that I am too well familiar of, coming from Texas where a large Asian population created demand for the grocer's expansion. Although not as large as the branches in Texas, the West Loop location boasts 1 bakery, 3 food court eateries, and a wide range of Asian ingredients to shop from, specifically Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. Read on to get the scoop on this hot-off-the-press supermarket before you make a visit. We have a small balcony that Gus uses to do his gardening and we thought it would be good timing for us to make the trek to Andersonville for his gardening supplies and maybe a foodie exploration. We used to frequent Sunshine Cafe and Adriatic Cafe, but sadly both restaurants have shut their doors. Looking around Yelp for a light lunch spot, we found Taste of Lebanon. A good decent amount of reviews (500+), 4.5 stars, 1 $ sign, but cash only. As a fan of Sultan Market (Clark St.), we were curious to see if this place can top our number one champ. |
